Soo-lo-hi-co !! not ZOO!

This was before we learning the Spanish phonics. We were looking for the zoo and we're *almost* there! Just a few left and right turns away. Our Garmin Sat Nav had fooled us a million times already so we did it the old fashioned way- roll down the windows and ask!

Donde esta zoo?

*puzzled look*

Donde esta Zoologico (english pronunciation) ??

*puzzled look*

"idiots!!"

Till months later we learnt "z" is pronounced "s" and "G" is kinna an "h". baah!

Wikipedia type random info you' should skip unless you're actually plan to go: The Chilean National Zoo is at the foot of San Cristóbel hill, so perhaps not more than 30 minutes from anywhere in the city. We went on a weekend, so it was packed with little kids and strollers! The entry ticket is a bit steep 3,000 Chilean Pesos ($4.3) per adult/ 1,500 ($2.17) per child and an extra 4,000 pesos ($5.8) for parking your car. Thats $17 for the 3 of us (compared to just $1 in  India or Indonesia!) But the penguins, Red pandas, penguins, flamingoes, lamas and sea lions were was worth it!

Its a nice place to wander around for an hour or two. Breezy, being on the hill & all. What I esp liked was they weren’t fussy about taking food or plastic inside (as they are in india) so you can snack all you want! They are toilets near the entrance/ exit and plenty of garbage bins around.

We saw the largest ever Giraffes along with Tigers, Lions, Emus too!
